What is a shoulder season?

Shoulder season is the period between a destination's peak and off-peak seasons — typically spring and autumn — when weather is often still good but crowds and prices are lower. It's a sweet spot for value and comfort, though the weather can be less predictable.

Because conditions sit between hot-season and cold-season extremes, shoulder-season packing leans on layers you can add or remove as the day changes.
