What is a peak season?

Also called high season, off-season

Peak season is a destination's busiest, most expensive time to visit — driven by the best weather, school holidays, or a major event. Off-season (or low season) is the opposite: cheaper and quieter, but often with worse weather or reduced opening hours.

Travelling in peak season means booking flights and stays earlier and expecting fuller flights — where a bag can get gate-checked — so packing carry-on-only pays off.
