What is a carry-on?

A carry-on is the bag you take into the aircraft cabin and stow in the overhead bin, rather than checking into the hold. Airlines cap its size and weight, and liquids inside it must follow the cabin liquids rule.

Because limits vary by airline and fare, always check your specific airline's carry-on dimensions before you pack — a bag that's fine on one carrier can be gate-checked on another.
