What is a liquids rule (3-1-1)?

Also called 3-1-1 rule, 100ml rule, liquids 100ml rule

The liquids rule limits the liquids, gels, and aerosols you can carry through airport security in your cabin bag: each container must be travel-sized (100ml / 3.4oz or less) and they all have to fit in one small, clear, resealable bag. In the US this is called the 3-1-1 rule.
