What is a schengen area?
The Schengen Area is a group of mostly European countries that have abolished passport checks at their shared borders, so you can travel between them as if they were one country. A single Schengen visa, where required, covers the whole area.
Which countries are in the Schengen Area, and whether you need a visa to enter, depends on current agreements and your nationality — check the official rules before booking.
