What is a layover?
Also called connection, connecting flight
A layover is the wait between two connecting flights when your journey isn't direct — you land, then board another flight to your final destination. A short layover is just enough time to change planes; a longer one may let you leave the airport.
A short connection between flights is usually called a layover; a longer, deliberate break — often over 24 hours — is a stopover. Give yourself enough time between flights to clear any security or immigration and re-board.
